If you absolutely have to play Myst, the game is best experienced with a monitor and mouse, so find a version that will run on your PC instead. Graphical glitches and poorly-implemented stylus interface round out this dubious port. The DS-specific addition of a note-taking feature also falls flat, since instead of a logical doodle-pad to use with the stylus, you're given a type-writer to laboriously peck out sentences key by key. On the DS, however, graphics are compressed and low-resolution, which means that walking around no longer has the air of discovery and wonder which gained the original game such praise. And let's face it, one of the most compelling things about Myst, back in the day, were the graphics - which were some of the first to take advantage of new CD-ROM technology and for the time were pretty breathtaking. If there were some sort of hint system incorporated in this remaster, I probably would've given it an 8.The puzzles in the original PC version of Myst were obscure to begin with, but on the DS they're even more difficult to decipher owing to the tiny screen size and lack of mouse curser. As a remake, Myst is a faithful one, but maybe a bit too faithful. Myst runs well on the Quest 2, however, and is a comfortable VR experience. It doesn’t come up often in Myst, but the few hand written notes that I’ve come across are horribly pixelated, and surprisingly hard to read. It was catered towards seasoned players who already have plenty of experience with puzzle games. And this new 3D Myst works on both desktop and in VR, so I got to spend time actually (virtually) walking around in it. The most egregious graphical issue is the readability of text. The game is a bit too difficult for casuals. Ive talked about this more in depth in my VorpX Review. My score of 7 primarily reflects the difficulty. The effect can be amazing, but since these games werent designed to run in a VR headset, there are usually some downsides. If you experience trouble with this part as well, feel free to find the solution online and don't dwell on it. It was highly inaccurate, and many online have expressed the same complaint about being stuck on it. Myst was a praise of interactive slowness, a masterpiece that has managed to withstand the inevitable passage of time and fashions, even if there were no. My only complaint is probably with the organ spaceship puzzle. My best advice to you is this: Examine everything carefully, try to find relationships, and rely on not only your sight but your hearing as well. ![]() With new art, sound, interactions, and even optional puzzle randomization - the highly.
